♦ PenAir was founded in 1955 by Orin Seybert in Pilot Point, Alaska, was one of the oldest family owned airlines in the United States. Operations started on 30Jun1956. Acquired the assets of Air Transport Services in 1985. Ravn Air Group, Alaska’s largest regional airline, has announced that it has purchased the assets of Peninsula Airways, Inc. and created a “new” PenAir that is officially a member of Ravn Air Group. As a subsidiary of Ravn Air Group, PenAir will keep its current name and continue to operate as a separate company under a separate FAA certificate. The company ceased operations when the Rav Air Group failed. Alaska Seaplanes has submitted a bid to acquire the Part 121 Air Operator’s Certificate of PenAir from the bankrupt RavnAir Group. Alaska Seaplanes intend to continue operating PenAir under its brand
