Air Madagascar was formed in Mar1947 by Transports Aériens Intercontinentaux. In Apr1961 the airline was renamed Madair and became the flag carrier for the newly independent republic & back to Air Madagascar on 14Oct1962 because of a negative image of the name Madair. During Oct2021, it was announced that Air Madagascar is to be merged with its sister carrier Tsaradia and the new consolidated entity renamed Madagascar Airlines
