Cameroonair♦ Air Cameroun was established by Meyer & Company of René Fernand Meyer as a successor to Regie Air Cameroun. The airline operated charter flights within the former French Cameroon. Operations commenced on 15Jul1953 on Yaounde – Ft Lamy route using leased DC-3. Airline was insolvent by 1970s. The Cameroon government decided to withdraw from the Air Afrique consortium and establish its own airline in Mar1971. Air Cameroun and Douala based Cameroon Air Transport were dissolved and their assets became kernel of newly formed Cameroon Airlines
