Aeropostal was founded as Cie Générale Aéropostale on 03Jul1929. Renamed to Linea Aerea Venezolana (LAV) on 01Jan1935, when the Venezuelan Government took over the assets of French Cie Générale Aéropostale. Acquired TACA de VENEZUELA and it was fully absorbed in in 1958. Ceased operations in 1994 but restarted in 1997. International flights to the USA started in 1998. In Jul2003 Aeropostal Alas de Venezuela bought a significant stake in the Sol Air (Honduras) (45%), and rebranded the airline AeroHonduras. On 24Aug2017, Aerospostal ceased operations. The Board of Directors announced the cease of operations of the airline, due to financial and economical problems. Restarted limited operations in early Sep2017 but ceased again on 24Sep2017.
