Aeroflot, Polyarnaya Aviatsiya (Polar Aviation) was a division of Aeroflot founded in 1931 as independent company by the Main Directorate of the North Seaside Path. Into Aeroflot in 1960
– [Aeroflot Russian Airlines was formed as Dobrolyot (Dobrolet) in 1923 but changed to Dobroflot after absorbing the Ukranian company Ukrvozdukhput. In 1932 all civil aviation activities were reorganised as Grazdansij Wozdusnyi Flot, simply known as AEROFLOT. Joined by POLAR AVIATION DIVISION in 1964. AEROFLOT was the largest airline in the world in 1989. Reorganised and renamed to AEROFLOT RUSSIAN INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES on 28Jul1992 and later dropped the ‘INTERNATIONAL’
