Aerofilms was the UK’s first commercial aerial photography company, founded in 1919 by Francis Wills and Claude Graham White. Operations began from the Stag Lane Aerodrome at Edgware, using the aircraft of the London Flying School. The Aircraft Operating Company was a British aerial photography company, that took over Aerofilms in 1925, and expanded its operations, based at Hendon. Aerofilms remained operational until in 1940, its staff and equipment were requisitioned by the Air Ministry, and in 1944 the company itself was taken over by Hunting Aerosurveys [Hunting Aerosurveys was a British aerial photography company. Its operations became more diversified under the name Hunting Surveys. The firm incorporated Aerofilms and the Aircraft Operating Company. In 1960 the firm was merged with Hunting Geophysics to form Hunting Surveys. Hunting Surveys & Consultants announced the appointment of a liquidator in Dec2001 and final dissolution in Jan2003]
