Aero Transport Flugbetriebsgesellschaft

Aero Transport Flugbetriebsgesellschaft was formed early in 1958 in association with the West German charter company LTU, charter flights were initially carried out with Vickers Vikings and one Dove on holiday destinations in Europe. In Jun1961, an ex TWA 049 was bought and this joined the Vikings on IT and general passenger charter work, particularly from Vienna to the Mediterranean resorts. In 1962, a 749 Constellation was purchased, and a further 749 Freighter in May1963. World-wide passenger and freight charters were flown by the aircraft, and the Connies were the first aircraft to show flag in New York, and Tokyo in Jul1961. The former owner of Falcon Airways, Marian Kozubski acted as Constellation chief pilot until troubles began when one of their Connies was grounded at Djibouti in Nov1963 after already being used for gun-running. Subsequently, OE-IFA was impounded at Vienna early in 1964
