Borneo is the third largest island in the world (after Greenland and New Guinea) and is located in the Malay Archipelago, south-eastern Asia. Borneo is bordered on the east by the Sulu Sea, the Celebes Sea, and the Makassar Strait, on the south by the Java Sea, and on the west and north by the South China Sea. Politically, Borneo is divided into Sabah and Sarawak, which are states of Malaysia, Brunei, an independent sultanate; and Kalimantan, part of Indonesia. The area is 751,100 sq km (290,000 sq mi).

Comments : Sabah Airways was formed in 1949 & renamed to Borneo Airways in 1957 - [MAS was formed as WEARNES AIR SERVICES in 1937 by Straits Steamship and continued services until 1941. MALAYAN AIRWAYS was formed out of the ashes and commenced operations in 1947. Renamed to MALAYSIA AIRLINES in 1963 after the new state of Malaysia was formed. The airline was then renamed to MSA (Malaysia-Singapore Airlines) in 1967 and restructured into the 2 separate airlines. MALAYSIAN AIRLINES BERHAD was registered in 1971 after the ending of MSA, (SIA being the other one) with operations beginning on 01Oct1972. The present name of MAS was adopted on 15Oct1987.
